Engagement in physical activities has a profound impact on the physical and mental health of children
and adolescents. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) released global recommendations
on physical activity and sedentary behavior, children and adolescents living with a disability should engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity each day. However, recent studies show that over 80% of children with disabilities or Special Educational Needs (SEN) failed to meet this standard.
Supported by the Research Impact Fund from the Research Grants Council, an Inclusive Physical Activity Program has been developed. This program provides an inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring that every SEN child can equally enjoy the benefits of physical activity. The funding has enabled the implementation of tailored interventions, specialized equipment, and trained staff, enhancing accessibility and participation for children with diverse needs. Through this initiative, the program aims to promote long-term health outcomes and foster a more inclusive society.
